October 10, 2009

It was REALLY foggy this morning . . .

and it took the sun quite some time to burn it all off . . .

but the kids had fun icing and decorating sugar cookies with grandma later in the afternoon.

I think this one had more icing on HIM than he did the cookies . . .

and this one was sneaking as many extra bites in as she could, thinking no one was noticing . . .

After all that cookie decorating, I headed off to the kitchen to make supper for us all.

It doesn't get much simpler than spaghetti with some sauteed zucchino!

It made for a great meal, and for desert . . .

of course we ate sugar cookies. Yummy indeed! I'll be full for WEEKS! Or at least the remainder of the evening.

I had my running shoes on today! Dave's folks arrived around 5:00 p.m., but that gave me plenty of time to crisis clean, and do my layout for the day. I actually got to make my first mess in my new retreat . . .

We ended up having a wonderful meal of grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, zucchino squash, etc., etc., topped off with cake and ice cream.

Then we all gathered in the living room, where the grandparents brought out gifts for everyone from their Summer in Yellowstone.

Both kids were excited to see grandma and grandpa, but I think Bayleigh was the most excited of all! She even stayed all night with them in the RV (which they'd driven down, as they are heading to Branson after their visit with us).

When I was walking with my sister-in-law yesterday afternoon, I couldn't help but pick up a few of these gorgeous leaves.

Unfortunately it rained today, and a walk was out of the question, but I'm glad I snatched up this trio to brighten my day.

I finished pulling together all my cubes today, and as you can see, I still have a LOT of work left to do . . .

All the cleaning, sorting and organizing seemed to energize me. My sister-in-law and I ended up taking a noon walk, and I found this little beauty along the side of the road.

It had been hurt somehow and couldn't fly, but I brought it home for the kids to see. It didn't live very long, but it was nice getting to watch it walk around and spread it's wings for just a little while.

While hubby worked on the carburetor in my old Chevy truck . . .

I worked on my L.O.A.D. layout and my "retreat". Since hubby put my trim up for me Saturday, I was finally able to move some of my cubes in . . .

So I spent a few hours going through each drawer . . . sorting, purging, organizing and re-organizing. I think I've finally got the insides sorted, but I'll have to wait until another day to put everything in it's new location. There just aren't enough hours in the day!

It amazes me how each sunrise is different from the next. I took a photo of each sunrise during the month of September, and I can't seem to get out of the habit. But I'm alright with that.

Something else that amazes me, is the very versatile Creative Memories Cutting System. Before my oldest was born, I'd purchased the circle and oval templates. Soon after, I had a complete set and eagerly awaited any new releases.

I hadn't touched this system in about 5 years, but when L.O.A.D. started up, all I had to deal with were older photos (which were in desperate need of cropping), so I pulled out my old system and experimented. I hadn't used this particular template at all . . . until yesterday. So I brought it out again for today's layout.

I think being out of my comfort zone, has forced me to experiment with these old templates. And it's revived a new sense of excitement for this hobby that I love . . . SCRAPBOOKING!

Oh yeah . . . I didn't bother taking pictures of all the laundry I did today. I don't think anyone would believe it anyway.

After all the pictures I've taken the past few weeks, I think it's kind of funny that the ONLY picture I took today was this one:

My L.O.A.D. layout for day 4.

We had the usual Sunday morning church service, picked up a chef salad on the way home and took a nice nap in the afternoon. It doesn't get much better than this!
