September 16, 2009

The sun was starting to rise while that little fingernail of moon was still shining brightly . . .

I managed to catch up on some housework and then got to work on "Big Bertha", while Eli was napping.

This first coat went surprisingly quick, and I'm hoping to finish it up tomorrow, with the second coat.

I even got a bit of crafting in!

I'm enjoying the projects from Feeling Scrappy's "Simplify the Season" class. Can't wait until our next assignment!

I'm glad I "borrowed" this Implement Magazine from my dad. Eli could browse through it for HOURS, naming all the equipment. Maybe farming IS in our blood . . .

This was one of those rare mornings that we didn't have a gorgeous sunrise. It was overcast and rained for a good portion of the day.

Bayleigh got violently ill two minutes before the bus came, so I kept her home from school. After that initial bout she felt fine all day . . . until about 3:00 in the afternoon. It soon took it's toll on her . . .

Although I didn't get everything picked up and straightened out from yesterday's "adventure", I did make quite a dent in all the junk on the floor. Two trash bags full were disposed of, thank you very much! ;)

And after Dave got home from his dentist appointment, he was nice enough to watch the kids while I went upstairs to prime "Big Bertha".

There's a story behind this desk, but I'll save it for my other blog . . .

and post it AFTER I've finally finished setting up my space.

I'm hoping the kids feel better tomorrow . . . and me too for that matter. I'd really like to shake whatever this is.

Another gorgeous one! I've only had a few cloudy mornings this month, where I've just got a bleak gray background. I much prefer a little splash of color in the mornings!

Dave worked on the spigot out by the garden this morning. Eli was going to help, but fell asleep on the couch before they even got started. Poor little guy is just exhausted from being sick all week.

Since I came down sick last week, I've fallen behind in my "retreat" preparations. On top of being sick, I can see why I didn't want to tackle this one (AT ALL). Procrastination of a nasty job, but it had to be done.

File cabinets emptied, desk cleared off, computer unhooked . . . UGH! But I finally just made the conscious effort to do it. I had Dave help me carry "Big Bertha" upstairs, and I'm hoping to get it ready to paint tomorrow, after I clean up some of this mess and get my computer set back up. Wish me luck . . . and lots of it!

The sunrises are beautiful this time of the year. I don't know what makes them seem different than at another other time of the year . . . maybe I just notice and enjoy them more with one of my favorite seasons coming up . . .

My little man has hit the diarrhea stage of whatever bug he's picked up. So he and I stayed home from church today. I really don't like missing church, but sometimes there isn't much choice in the matter.

At least I somewhat got caught up with the laundry and the dishes. Maybe that will make my Monday go a little smoother.

September 12, 2009

Another beautiful sunrise, with a busy day scheduled . . .

Dave found this little guy on his way back from biking, and brought it home to show the kids. I thought it was cute, how gentle Eli was being with it.

After I marathon cleaned, we headed off to the dog show around 10:30. I still wasn't up to par, and Eli had JUST gotten over his bout of vomiting yesterday, but I'd promised Brenda that I'd take pictures if I could, and Bayleigh would have been very disappointed if she hadn't have gotten to show "Bear". Bear belongs to Aunt Stacey, but Bayleigh has pretty well put her stamp on him . . .

Even though Eli wasn't old enough to show, they were nice enough to let him participate in the 5-8 year old division . . .

Truth be known . . . I think he did a better job than Bayleigh. But don't tell her I said that. ;) Bear got a workout today!

September 11, 2009

There was a gorgeous sunrise this morning . . .

Unfortunately my little guy was still vomiting, so I called in an appointment at the pediatricians. Of course it's something viral that just has to run it's course, so there wasn't much relief there.

And I'm just curious, but does anyone know what happens when mommy comes down deathly ill for a few days?

You guessed it! A mountain of laundry . . .

a messy kitchen . . .

and a sink full of dishes.

After the dog show tomorrow it looks like I'll be tackling the mess. Apparently no one else knows how to run the washing machine or the dishwasher around here. Maybe I should teach a class on some of the basics . . . hmmmm?

Oh yes . . . my hubby just informed me this morning that his parents last day of work at Yellowstone was today and they'll be heading home tomorrow. He's guessing they'll be stopping through on their way home. HAVE MERCY!

All I can say is . . . DEAL WITH IT! I'm still recouperating from whatever bug I've managed to catch and I haven't had a decent moments sleep in about 5 days.

Just keepin' it real folks.

September 10, 2009

Tuesday I was starting to come down with a sinus thing and yesterday you could have fried an egg on my head. So when Eli woke up vomiting this morning, I seriously thought about postponing our early eye appointment, since the two of us were feeling slightly under the weather.

However, since Eli had only vomited once and was running full steam, I figured he'd just eaten something that might have disagreed with him. Boy was I wrong! On the way down for our appointment, I had to jump over the front seat and into the back of the Jeep to find something for him to get sick in. At the optometrists office, he ended up getting sick twice, still going full steam mind you, and I thought for sure he was through.

I decided that while Dave was still in the office getting his eyes checked, I'd take Eli on out to the car. We ended up taking a little side trip up to the top floor, on the elevator because Eli just didn't want to stop riding, and I didn't want him to make himself sick (again), over missing an elevator ride.

Luckily, after the trip to the top, I finally got him out to the car and Dave came out shortly afterward. We made a quick trip to the ER to pick up a "baggie", and I drove home, while Dave sat in the back with Eli.

When we got home, Dave went back to bed and Eli continued to vomit until late afternoon. He finally fell asleep on my lap right before Bayleigh got home off the bus.

I'm pretty much feeling like death warmed over and I'm hoping some medication and some sleep come my way very soon.
