September 10, 2009

Tuesday I was starting to come down with a sinus thing and yesterday you could have fried an egg on my head. So when Eli woke up vomiting this morning, I seriously thought about postponing our early eye appointment, since the two of us were feeling slightly under the weather.

However, since Eli had only vomited once and was running full steam, I figured he'd just eaten something that might have disagreed with him. Boy was I wrong! On the way down for our appointment, I had to jump over the front seat and into the back of the Jeep to find something for him to get sick in. At the optometrists office, he ended up getting sick twice, still going full steam mind you, and I thought for sure he was through.

I decided that while Dave was still in the office getting his eyes checked, I'd take Eli on out to the car. We ended up taking a little side trip up to the top floor, on the elevator because Eli just didn't want to stop riding, and I didn't want him to make himself sick (again), over missing an elevator ride.

Luckily, after the trip to the top, I finally got him out to the car and Dave came out shortly afterward. We made a quick trip to the ER to pick up a "baggie", and I drove home, while Dave sat in the back with Eli.

When we got home, Dave went back to bed and Eli continued to vomit until late afternoon. He finally fell asleep on my lap right before Bayleigh got home off the bus.

I'm pretty much feeling like death warmed over and I'm hoping some medication and some sleep come my way very soon.

Getting ready for school is always an ordeal. Somebody I know doesn't like to go to bed at the assigned time, therefore, when it's time to get around in the morning, there is quite a struggle.

For some reason this morning, Eli woke up an hour early. That put a little bit of a cramp in my "ME" time, but thankfully he was good and watched cartoons until I yanked his sister out of bed.

The photo below isn't the best. (WAAAAYYYYY overexposed!) But it's a moment that I'll savor for a long time. Each hugging the other before Bayleigh gets on the bus. I wish they were always so sweet.

But I know it's too good to last long.

Had an early check up at the doctor's office for Bayleigh.

We made good time and we actually showed up a little early for her 8:30 appointment.

Of course I had a take a few moments to take some photos of the peacocks in the parking lot. I mean how many times do you see something like THAT?!

We got her in and out in record time and I had her back to school by 9:30. For some reason that little trip seemed to zap all my energy and I didn't get a whole lot done today.

Eli and Bayleigh have both started playing "Guess Who" with daddy right before bedtime. I think it's rather entertaining to watch Eli. He giggles and giggles and giggles. Silly boy.

YAY! More fog!

The view from my living room . . .

Just because some days I stay in my jammies, doesn't mean I don't get things accomplished. Some days I just hit the ground running and don't take time to change into more suitable attire. This is actually what I wore outside this morning to take pictures of the sunrise. Hope my neighbors and passing traffic don't mind my eccentricity.

After a crazy morning of housework, my hubby decided to take the kids to the zoo. So I got myself put together, and drove down to one of the river accesses . . .

To work on a journaling challenge. I must say it was nice getting away from all the housework that was still calling my name, to soak up some of God's beautiful creation.

Another foggy morning. I wonder how long it will be before we see the sun again.

I went out to catch a few photos and stumbled across this beautiful spiderweb (this photo doesn't nearly do it justice). It was floating back and forth in the breeze, and was surprisingly hard to capture through my lens.

After we all got home from church, I tried resting with Eli, but Bayleigh kept pestering me, so I just got up and played a few (hundred) rounds of Monopoly with her.

As you can see, Elvis had to join in too. He has to be in the middle of everything. Some days it's rather difficult to get anything done. But we love him anyway.

September 5, 2009

Second day in a row. No sun.

At least that didn't stop the kids from having a good time.

They played nicely, while I got things together to bake Eli's birthday cake.

Of course daddy took them out to play in the mud, which meant they had to have a bath before lunch time . . .

I guess their shoes will just have to be hosed down outside . . . **shudder**

Amongst all the extras . . . I DID manage to get the cake decorated before the party . . .

with a little help from the birthday boy.

Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Stacey and Cousin Kasey helped us all celebrate.

And the little man did a good job on blowing out his candles. (Almost too good of a job! He kept blowing them out every time Dave lit them up.)

Since it was his special day, we let him stay up late. He finally made it to bed just a few minutes before midnight. Happy Birthday little man! I'm not looking forward to an early morning tomorrow.

A slight lack of sunrise this morning, but the photos shall continue . . .

After hitting some garage sales with mom this morning, I was swamped in dishes and laundry.

I finally got around to doing Eli's birthday shopping around 7:00 p.m. I abhor Wal-Mart, but it seems to be a necessary evil.
