March 30, 2009

It was a beautiful morning. I finally got to see some sunlight this morning, but it just came in short bursts. But I'm not complaining! At this point, I'll take any sunshine I can get!

Eli took his power tools to the Play-Doh . . .

and I did several loads of laundry and ran into town to pick up some more paint, to finish off some trim. On the way home, I decided to take a few detours down the backroads . . .

I've really been wanting to get a picture of Rough Holler Bridge, right on the verge of Spring . . . so today was the perfect opportunity!

I stood on the old bridge and watched the water rush under my feet. I could actually feel the force of the river. Although I've driven over this bridge countless times . . . standing in the middle of it like this, and feeling the rush of the water through the bottoms of my feet kind of made me hesitate, when I drove back over it to head home.

On the way back . . . I snapped a few photos of some of the trees in bloom. It was a gorgeous day to be out and about, and I would have loved to hike off through the woods . . . but alas! There was painting to be done!
I managed to finish up the master bedroom today and get most of the trim in Bayleigh's room painted. Maybe tomorrow I can finish off Bayleigh's room and work on finishing up pantry number 2.
Here's hoping!

March 29, 2009

We woke up to a think sheet of this . . .

and since the preacher had called off church the night before, we all lazed around all day doing absolutely nothing! What a nice change of pace!

March 28, 2009

I've been eating healthier . . .

and searching for any source of light I could possibly find today. The refrigerator and the heat lamp over the little chicks was about as close to "light" as I could get today.

It's went from rain . . . to freezing rain . . . to snow. I'm looking forward to seeing the sun again.

March 27, 2009

We're so proud of our little girl! She was one of the Cubs of the Month for her Kindergarten class.

We all enjoyed her little 30 minute assembly in the gym . . .

and then daddy got to go to work, and mommy got back to work on painting trim after Eli dropped off for his afternoon nap.

My hands are tired, but I know just how close I am to getting it all done. I'll let my hands have a weekend off in April sometime. ; )

March 26, 2009

I spent my day sanding, taping, wiping down trim and painting . . .

We're getting that much closer to moving in.

And if all goes well . . . I'm hoping to have our bedroom finished by the end of the weekend. There's a lot to be said for hope . . .

March 25, 2009

Ahhh . . . sunrise. One of my favorite times of the day. A perfect combination of shadow . . .

and light. Just look what a little early morning light can do to such a simple thing as grass. It never ceases to amaze me.

Something else that never ceases to amaze me, is my little guy's imagination. We both had lots of fun playing with the Play-Doh this morning. I'd forgotten how much fun Play-Doh can be. I must do this more often!

As a special treat tonight, we roasted hotdogs and marshmallows for supper . . .

and we finished up just in time! It started to rain, as soon as we came in . . .

We had true Missouri weather today, and it's looking like we may get some snow this weekend! Crazy!

March 24, 2009

This was the only glimpse of sunlight I saw until late afternoon . . .

The storms were rolling in right and left . . . severe thunderstorms, tornado warnings and flash floods . . .

I was so proud of myself! My computer was actually unplugged for over 24 hours! I'm getting in some good practise for Kimba's challenge on the 27th . . .

After the storms passed through, I picked up Bayleigh, from school for a 2:45 p.m. doctor's appointment. I'm guessing she has a version of what mommy has been suffering from. The doctor's office was crazy busy, but after an hour and a half, we finally made it out the doors and headed to Wal-Mart for a few groceries. I ended up getting the kids some Play-Doh for a surprise, for being (mostly) well behaved and after we got home they ripped into it and played with it up until supper time. I'm thinking it was well worth the money, for the peace it allowed me while I fixed supper.

March 23, 2009

We enjoyed the last day of Spring break. The kids put puzzles together . . .

and helped daddy start some seeds for the garden . . .

and I thought this photo epitomized the word hope . . . my little girl holding a handful of seeds in the palm of her hand, hoping to see the efforts of her labors come to fruition.

Meanwhile, I was busy with housework and putting some more effort into the addition. I've decided to focus all my extra time on the addition, so we can get moved in. So I'm falling a little behind on the blog . . . my LOM class . . . and life in general. I hope to be catching up with things next month! Please bare with me . . .

March 22, 2009

It was a gloomy day. So after church, I just decided to lay down and rest with the kids. Unfortunately the kids had other plans, and we ended up watching movies.

The sun finally peeked through the clouds in the late afternoon. It seems I take the sunlight for granted quite often. But when it is absent for the majority of the day, I definitely notice, and I'm more conscious of searching out any little glimpses of light that I can.

I took the kids for a walk to grandpa and grandma's this afternoon. Eli always likes to pick up grandpa's equipment catalogs and flip through them naming all the equipment. Grandpa gets quite a kick out of Eli and his equipment descriptions, as do the rest of us.

On the way back home, I spotted this little pink jewel . . .

There's nothing like a spot of color to brighten a dreary day!

March 21, 2009

While I put tape up, in preparation for painting Bayleigh's room . . .

she was busy practising her number writing. She filled the chalkboard and made it all the way to 100. It makes a momma proud . . .

Eli napped almost long enough for me to finish taping off the hallway and pantry, so I brought him out there with me, and Bayleigh wrote on the dry-erase side of the board, while Eli drew some pretty pictures with chalk.

And I still have this thing for daffodils. Maybe I'm just hoping that I'll take enough pictures of them that I'll finally get "the perfect shot".

The same goes for hyacinths . . .

I decided that while I was outside, I would take a picture of the house on the verge of Spring. I'll have to remember to take another shot from this angle after the trees start to bud out. We'll see how the old memory does on this idea . . .

March 20, 2009

On this first day of Spring, Bayleigh played at grandma's for a short time and I got busy sorting, cleaning and organizing the kids' bedding.

I also dug out some of Bayleigh's stained and non-school-worthy winter clothing, and got creative.

The jogging pants got cut off into shorts for this summer, and the long sleeve shirts got a makeover, too.

Great way to re-purpose the kids ruined clothing! We're getting our money's worth out of it all, during these tough economic times. And the best part is . . . you don't need a sewing machine, and you don't even have to be that good with a sharp pair of scissors!

March 19, 2009

It rained last night, but we woke up to a beautiful morning!

The early morning light even seems to make our "work in progress" look kind of pretty. And I happened to notice, after I downloaded photos, that my "Keepin' it Real" layout was captured in the shot, too. We're definitely keepin' it real around here . . . it doesn't get more real than this!

Dave and Eli spent a little time planting peppers this afternoon . . .

while I worked on cleaning the inside and outside of the bathroom cabinets.

After Bayleigh got home from school, her and daddy went outside to play catch . . .

and Eli and myself headed off to town to do some grocery shopping. It's been a long, busy day and I'm looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow. (Like THAT'S going to happen!)

March 18, 2009

I'm finding myself fascinated by daffodils . . .

After a long gloomy winter, these bright yellow flowers are one of the first spots of color, bursting forth from the decay of a past season.

I'm not normally a "yellow" person, but I believe the color is growing on me.

and it photographs so well!

I think Eli, Elvis and Freckles would agree that yellow is a pretty special color.

*Note: I finished cleaning the bathroom, the kitchen, and vacuumed the stairs. Plus I got the doors put up on all the cabinets in the addition. My plan for tomorrow (during Eli's nap time, of course) is to clean all those cabinets in the addition and start moving things from the existing bathroom, into our master bath. I'm getting closer . . . one baby step at a time!

March 17, 2009

With a busy day of housecleaning . . . I was glad to finally get outside and take a few photos . . .

March 16, 2009

Went to the doctor today and got some medicine! WHOOHOO! Found out I had a major sinus infection and now I've got to take several different meds to get everything lined back out again.

After the doctor . . . we thought a trip to the park would be fun. Eli had a blast!

And after Bayleigh got home from school, she and I went out to play with our cameras. Can't wait to see what I download off of her card.

Time for medication and getting horizontal!

March 15, 2009

I'm feeling REALLY ill today, and it looks like my little guy has picked up a little virus himself! He's been throwing up since about 2:00 this afternoon. I'm hoping it passes before bedtime . . . I just don't know if I have the energy to take care of both of us . . . and of course he comes first.

With my hubby working full time, and doing his clinicals on his off days, there's just no relief in sight. Single parenting stinks . . . especially when you're sick. Okay, I'll quit whining now . . . no one likes a whiner . . .

I did manage to put my 12 of 12 layout together today. I'm totally lacking inspiration here, and this is about as good as it gets, today.

Now it's back to resting and trying to recouperate.

March 14, 2009

I've felt awful today . . . sinus/cold stuff still hanging on from a month ago, has made a comeback . . . with a vengeance.

I spent most of the day on the couch reading and resting.

I may just have to break down and go to the doctor this coming week, just so I can take something and get over this for good! I miss my non-stop energy.

I DID manage to get my photos printed for this month's 12 of 12 layout. So hopefully I can summon enough strength to get it put together tomorrow.

I abhor being sick.
