March 1, 2010

Today I'm thankful for a little "me" time.  I actually got to take a bath by myself today!  And I got out of the house for a few moments to mail a package off to the Netherlands.

I started off my day with laundry and dishes; cleaned the bedrooms and put all the clothes away.  As soon as I finished with my cleaning, Dave told me to go enjoy a bath, while he watched Eli.  After that, I headed out to the post office.

As I was in the post office, I noticed that there were only 128 mail boxes inside.  I do indeed live in a small town.

After I got back home, I made some sweet tea, and settled in to sort some more photos while Dave and Eli worked on clearing some dead trees and cutting wood.

A short time later, Bayleigh got home from school and decided she wanted to play Monopoly . . .

I LOVE Monopoly, but it takes FOREVER to get through a game.

Luckily Bayleigh has a short attention span . . .

and it doesn't take her long to get sidetracked by something else.

Like bringing Butterball into the house to play with.

Which was lucky for me . . . since I started out on my very first move, with a trip to jail.

Needless to say we didn't make too many trips around the board before Eli came in to "help", and Bayleigh was too wrapped up in her kitty to pay attention.  The game was put away due to lack of participation.

This evening while I was cleaning the litter boxes out (UGH!) I happened to glance up into the bathroom mirror and notice a gray hair (it's the one glaring out at you from the left of my Canon camera).  I've had the stray gray ever since highschool and my mom has always laughed and joked at me about turning gray pre-maturely.  But now that I'm on the back side of thirty and quickly headed for forty, it doesn't really bother me.  I'll be one of those women who just let it go naturally gray.  I'm not all that vain (obviously), and I think going to the salon for a dye job every couple of weeks would be a major pain in the patooshka.  I've got better things to do with my time.  Like take pictures of my gray hair . . . lol.

Ahh yes!  Dave made homemade pizza for supper and topped it off with butterscotch/chocolate chip cookies.  He starts up with clinicals again tomorrow and we probably won't see him again until mid-May when he graduates.  Here's to my last leg of single parenting!

  2. Thanks for the post to the Netherlands.

I love the mail boxes, they look very antique, also love Dave clearing the trees, love the cookies (yummie), the can shot and the tea, but I love your profile shot a lot. I think you should use it as your profile photo..
