February 5, 2010

Today I'm grateful for routines.  The weather was a mix between snow, sleet and rain . . .

and it continued throughout the day.

Since it's Friday, my day to maintain the house, I asked Eli if he'd like to help.

He loves this little vacuum and I'm glad he doesn't mind vacuuming the rugs.  I plan on taking advantage of all the help I can get, while the kids are still eager to do it.  I know before very long, they won't want to help out at all!

Dave had a rare Friday at home.  He took off work to try and finish up his research paper.

As soon as Bayleigh got home from school, she took everything out of her book bag, grabbed her library books and read both of them in the first five minutes after she got home.  I'm SO very glad she loves to read.  Dave and I both love to read, even though it's become harder for me to get immersed in a good book since having children.  I'm hoping as the kids get older, and learn to read on their own, that maybe we can all spend afternoons lounging around together reading our books.  (I can dream, can't I?)

Practise pays off!  After all the practise we've done on spelling words this week, Bayleigh got a perfect score, plus three points for her bonus words!  I'm so proud of her!

On my way back from feeding and watering the dogs, I paused on the path to pet one of the outside cats.  As I was petting her, I looked over and saw the water droplets hanging from this plant.  It just struck me a bright spot in this cold dreary day.  Something beautiful to rest my eyes on.

When I came back in, Bayleigh had roped Dave into playing a game of Parcheesi.

And a short while later, Eli decided to play hide and seek from mommy.  He hid under the covers of the bed, and when I "found" him giggling under the covers, I carried him back to the living room for some snuggle time.

Leftovers for supper;  Bayleigh completed her homework for the weekend; and then she and I played a game of Chutes and Ladders (which I ALWAYS lose).

I had planned on going to a card-making party, but since Dave was home and the weather was icky, I decided to stay in for the evening.  Maybe NEXT month I can venture out.

  1. I love being here because your photos are very personal and full of emotions and mostly happy emotions. There are lots of photos to talk about, but I'm always happy because I tend to like them all.

By the way, I started a new blog today and I'll be choosing the best photo amongst photos published by my followers, but only from those who post one photo each day.

Because I like your blog, I'm making an exception for you. If you would like to join the competition, please select the photo that you like most among all the other photo you post daily and just mention which one it is in the blog. That will help me compare it with other photos of the day.

    The blog is found here
