February 6, 2010

Today I'm grateful for the chance to sleep in until 7:00.  Bayleigh woke up at 4:00, in the midst of a bad dream *sigh* and I finally got her calmed down and back to sleep around 4:30.

Bayleigh is usually my child that likes to sleep in, but not this morning.  She was up checking on her kittens first thing this morning.  Eli on the other hand, wakes up going full speed.  He immediately wakes up wanting breakfast.  I can't wait until he's big enough to just get up and fix his own.  ;)

I woke up to a slushy/snowy world.

So of course, I had to go out and play for a few moments, while the kids were wrapped up in their breakfast.

Although I'm finding a lot of beauty in amongst the snow;  I'll be so very glad  . . .

to see some bright spots of color.

All this white is like a blank canvas just waiting to be painted upon!

I caught Eli playing around with a pair of daddy's jeans this morning.

I think he's got a long way to go, before he fills these out!  It was rather comical watching him try to walk in them.

And before Dave left for work, his birthday present arrived.  A Kitchen Aid Professional 600 mixer.  Although his birthday is a few days away, we went ahead and let him open it.  He's been wanting a good mixer for a LONG time, so I let him pick one out and order it.  I think we'll get lots of good eats out of this one.

Butterball got to spend a good portion of the day inside with Bayleigh.  If daddy knew I'd let her do this, he'd probably spank both of us!

When I went out to do chores this afternoon, my faithful companion, Fuzz Face followed me out through the snow.

Eli finally laid down for a nap around 5:00 p.m.  So Bayleigh kept an eye on him, while I took a bath.  It was SO nice to be able to shave my legs without one (or both) kids in the tub with me.  It's so seldom that I get this opportunity and it was a nice treat.

I worked on tagging some of my layouts for the Library of Memories class.  I'm finding that my layouts are mostly of "Us" (my immediate family), and "Things".  I have very few layouts of "Places" or "People".  I think I need to start recording more of my surroundings. I'll be adding that to my never ending list of "things to do".

**My favorite photo of the day would be #8.  The second shot of Eli wearing Dave's jeans.  I like the angle of the little dimpled elbow, along with the light and the shadow.  What do you think?**

  1. Kyla~ Are the bad dreams becoming more common? Do they have a theme or common thread?
Our Middle boy Nathan and our daughter Cassie had nightmares and night terrors horrible when younger... they still do from time to time, but are equipped to handle them better.
What the therapist told them to do, was to make the monster or bad person in to a big cookie or Ice cream, and then eat them. She told them to go back into their dream, and with practice they will be able to do this, and change the dream. It took a few weeks to a month, but it worked. They learned how to go into the dream, tell the monster to go away, or they would eat them. It helped empower them. It was an eye opener for me. I had never ever thought about going back into a dream and changing the outcome. You will surely need some patience, and approach it in an absolutely positive manner. We told the kids that God would never leave them and that he has given them the power to make the monster go away. It was a rough month or so, but it worked. And, they had a bad night from time to time. On those nights, they came and got in bed with us. Then, they tried to make the monster go away. There was a bit of safety empowerment that came with being in bed with mom and dad. But, that is how we dealt with it. Some people do not let their kids in bed with them. Each to his own.
    Hope this makes sense...

  2. 4,6,7 & 11 are my favorites, but I think the first shot of Eli wearing his daddy's pants is sublime. The cat in the snow is very cute too!
