June 4, 2010

Today I'm thankful for time well spent.

Dave had a one hour computer class to take today.  We all went with him, so I could take the kids to the park, while he was in class.

I really like all the architecture in town, and I had a good opportunity (there weren't any cars behind me) to take a picture of the North Ward School.

Then it was off to the park.  We spotted Mr. Peacock, right as we entered; and he even posed for us!

Then it was off to the slides!

Eli is pretty adept at climbing, so I just had Bayleigh follow him up each time, to make sure he didn't fall.

Then we walked around and said hello to all the ducks, geese and swans . . .

rested on the rocks . . .

and explored the banks of the pond.

When Dave's class was over, we ran a few of his errands, and then stopped by our favorite restaurant in town (El Rodeo) to eat.

Eli even likes their salsa.

After we ate, a few more errands and grocery shopping were completed; then on the way back home, we stopped to renew our concealed carry permits, and I pre-paid for tomorrow's Relay for Life 5k run.  When we got home, Dave took a nap while I cleaned up the kitchen and started baking and cooking for tomorrow's 4-H community dinner.

After Dave woke up, he went to work outside again . . . smoothing more dirt and putting the kids to work.  (Not that they minded playing in the dirt.)

I cooked/baked until 9:00 p.m. and then we all

went outside to enjoy roasting hot dogs, and eating S'mores.

I almost got this one in under the wire, but I missed it by a couple of minutes!  I'm off to bed, so I will be rested up for tomorrow's 5k at 9:00 a.m.  Wish me luck!

  1. Have a good run ! Looks like the weather there is fabulous.

  2. Beautiful building and well composed. Love the fire shot, used a tripod?

Kids playing and helping out, love to see that. Portrays a happy family.

    What's cooking?

  3. Thanks gentlemen. The weather was perfect for the run, Joel.

And M. ~ the fire shot was no tripod, manual mode. I SELDOM use a tripod, but sometimes I really should. I just don't like lugging them around.

I fixed 10 pounds of potato salad, baked two batches of brownies, and made a gallon of baked beans for the kids 4-H dinner on 06.05.10. I'm glad we had a campfire dinner, after all that cooking.

  4. I also don't like using a tripod, but I think I'll have to in the future.

Never had a camp-fire dinner, hope to one day.
