June 16, 2010

Today I'm thankful to be a stay at home mom.  It gives me the freedom and flexibility to change my strict schedules and to-do's if I so desire.

And today was one of those days.  Eli got up early and wanted me to lay down on the couch with him and watch Blue's Clues.  So instead of unloading and reloading the dishwasher, I spent an hour or so cuddled up on the couch with Eli, searching for Blue's clues.  By the time the movie was over, I was feeling pretty cozy where I was at, and wasn't really motivated to start cleaning yet, so I brought my Mac downstairs and started working on the next lesson in my "Classroom in a Book" for PSE8.  I've finally figured out how to use some of the tools, and it's so much easier to "play" with those tools, when you're editing practise photos (and not the ones YOU'VE personally taken).  There's a certain amount of freedom in that.  lol  (Are my perfectionistic tendencies showing?)

I made it about halfway through the lesson, and a few hours later, I decided to put it all down and finish the house cleaning project I had started yesterday morning, before my mom side-tracked me with the shopping trip.  I finished mopping and dusting everything in the entryway, swept all the floors, took out all the trash, cleaned the dining room and cleaned the kitchen back up.  All in all I feel it was a pretty productive day for me; even with the late start.

After Dave got home, he and the kids went out to "play" in the dirt.  If all goes well, the ground will be  worked up by next week.

I noticed that the flowers in my planter are really popping up now.  I may have to do some thinning out, as the kids helped plant the seeds and they were pretty liberal with scattering them.

It was sunny and hot most of the day, but a nice storm blew through late this afternoon.

I manged to get out and take a few photos of the wildflowers . . .

and my yucca plant before the rains started coming down.

I was hoping to finish the lesson I was on, after supper, but it's now time to get the kids off to bed and I need to head there myself.  That gives me something to look forward to tomorrow!

  1. That's one lovely Mac laptop. Happy to know that you're learning very quickly. Dave seems to be doing a very good job in the garden and by the way, what's the name of the flower in your planter?

My favorite shots for today are Dave and the orange flower.

Hope you had a nice day!
